Apprentice painter decorator – Paul Wright (August 2019 – January 2020)
I listened to the client’s briefs. I made sure all equipment that was needed was on-site. I helped my boss out with the tasks at hand (painting, sanding, cleaning)
Work experience 1 (2019)
Within the college, I helped paint a children’s sand pit at Tattersall Farm Park. There were 6 of us that took the job on. We ordered the paints, created the initial sketches to show the client, and got constructive criticism to improve on.
Work experience 2 (2020)
For my official college work experience, I was able to raise awareness for modern-day slavery through the medium of art. A group and I created an illustrated comic book showing information as well as correct terminology for younger generations. My tutors nominated me to give a speech in the houses of parliament in the House of Lords in front of 300 people including the head of Education (Gavin Williamson) explaining the skills and knowledge gained within this experience.
Placement Student – Nottingham Contemporary (2024)
Working with Nottingham Contemporary to create an exhibition (Frames) was eye-opening to the art world. We had 13 of us responding to the current exhibition of Paul Mpagi Sepuya and Dora Budor.
Florist – Kirton Flower Shop (2024)
I would work with many people in a quick and efficient environment. I was responsible for ensuring every bouquet that left my hands was beautiful and suitable to sell immediately.
TA - Nottingham Trent University (2024)
I helped lecturers give workshops to first-year undergraduate Fine Art students. This included a class of 50 helping direct the students. I have given 1-1 sessions to year 1, 2 and 3 students helping them engage with the course. I have taken part in exhibition seminars guiding the students to ask questions about the work at hand.
